mile·stone [mahyl-stohn]
-noun
1. a stone functioning as a milepost
2. a significant event or stage in the life, progress, development of a person, nation or the like
we often confuse significance with grandeur. it seems that we place great importance on what it cost, who noticed, how good it makes us feel or what we gained from it. i believe that in some ways, what it cost and what we gained from it can make all the difference-
i believe it cost jesus his very life
to redeem my brokenness and to restore my relationship
with my creator, myself and others.
but i also believe that we can find significance in our everyday lives. if we look for it. i am not saying this is an easy task. far from it. most days i get so caught up in what i “need” to do, that i forget what i “get” to do…
-live under [and by!] the grace of god
-share life with a husband who adores me [most days!]
-lean on a never-ending supply of loved ones [living all over the world!]
gratefully, i am seeing more clearly that significance is in the eye of the beholder.
